Xucun Town

  Under the jurisdiction of Xucun Town, there are 27 administrative villages and three community residents’ committees; they have a total population of 105,900. It covers an area of 91.1 square km. By the end of 2007, GDP of the town stood at 4.983 billion Yuan, total financial revenue 483 million Yuan, and per-capita net income of rural residents 10,178 Yuan.

  An industrial structure with strong local flavor has been formed; it has the small and medium-sized enterprises as the foundation, industrial areas as the key support and special markets as the outlets. It involves various sectors such as raw material supply, cloth weaving, processing of finished products, printing and dyeing, supported by product research, development and design, quality inspection, and sales networks. A productive agricultural production and sales base has come into being with thousands of hectares allotted to a floral scientific and technical innovation park, a 10,000-ton soft-shell turtle cultivation base, and 10,000-head lake sheep cultivation base, involving hundreds of families providing fresh flowers, special aquatic products, tree seedlings, fruits and vegetables. In the tertiary sector, a household textile products export and sales base has come into being led by the China Household Textile Town. The China Haining Household Textile Exposition has been held seven times with great success.    

Chang’an Town

  Chang’an is a national key town, a provincial central town and an important sub-center of Haining. Covering an area of 91.9 square km, the town exercises jurisdiction over 20 administrative villages and eight communities, with a total population of 125,000. In 2007, its GDP reached 1.82 billion Yuan, financial revenue 202 million Yuan, and per-capita net income of rural residents 10,160 Yuan. It has won many honors such as Provincial Culturally Advanced Town, Provincial Town Advanced in Education, Provincial Town Strong in Sports, Provincial East China Sea Cultural Pearl Town, Provincial Ecological Town, Provincial Sanitary Town, and Provincial Advanced Collective in Integrative Administration.

  In agriculture, there are four main characteristic sectors of flowers, tree seedlings, special aquatic products, and high-quality fruits. It possesses such brands as “Chang’an” and “Kangyi” fresh-cut flower, “Mugang” river crab, “Haining mulberry” and “Shengpin” grape. Chang’an Town Flower Park is the largest fresh-cut flower production base in Zhejiang Province.

  In industry, there are five major sectors of finished sofa, leather, hardware lock-making, printing and packaging, and silk textiles. Motorcycle components and accessories constitutes another sector that is developing by leaps and bounds recently; efforts are being made for the Automobile and Motorcycle Components Park. The Dongfang College of Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics has settled in Chang’an Town. Undertakings of education, culture, sanitation and telecommunications are all pushing forward the development of the western part of the city.   

Zhouwangmiao Town

  Zhouwangmiao Town has jurisdiction over 13 villages and one community residents’ committee, with a total population of 58,000 and a total area of 53.72 square km. By the end of 2007, its GDP reached 1.137 billion Yuan, its total industrial output value 4.119 billion Yuan, its disposable income 35.401 million Yuan, and the per-capita net income of its residents 9,097 Yuan.

  Zhouwangmiao Town, well known for its beautiful environment, is chosen by the State department concerned as a pilot town in reform. It is also chosen by the Zhejiang department concerned as a pilot town in reform. Moreover, it is known as a Provincial-Level Ecological Town, a Provincial-Level Sanitary Town, and a Provincial-Level Small Green Town. It boasts a good array of leather industrial sector including related leather products, leather cases and bags, printing and packaging, and electronics. Each of these industrial trades is a “100 million-Yuan-output-value industrial trade”, and possesses a sharp competitive edge in market competition. The town wins the honor of “No.1 Leather Town of China” from the State Light Industry Association.

  Agriculturally, it is a major base for silkworms and mulberries. It is also an important chemical additives free chicken farm in Zhejiang. The town also grows 100 million seedling mulberries and 5,000 tons of silkworm cocoons. Its “Miao Wang” seedling mulberries are sold like hot cakes throughout the country and even enjoy good sales in the Republic of Korea and some other countries. Given this, the town wins the honor of the “Zhejiang High-quality Seedling Mulberries Cultivation Model Center” from the Provincial Agricultural Commission and of the “Zhejiang High-Quality New Mulberries Breeds and New Technologies Promotion Center” from the Provincial Institute of Agriculture Science. The town’s Chaoxiang chickens are highly rated as “green” farm produce in Zhejiang Province.

    Zhouwangmiao Town is one of the birthplaces of Liangzhu Culture. The historical site of Heyedi is a cultural relics unit subject to special protection in Haining City.

Yanguan Town

  Yanguan Town has under it 17 administrative villages and three communities, covering a total area of 56.02 square km and with a total population of about 51,500. In 2007, its GDP was 1.586 billion Yuan, its total industrial and agricultural output value 4.523 billion Yuan, its foreign trade value 1.279 billion Yuan, tax it paid to the State and profits made516 million Yuan, total financial revenue 152 million Yuan, and per-capita net income of farmers 9,183 Yuan.

  In recent years, Yanguan Town has made efforts to attain the goal of building a “town with good strength, advanced science and technology, and an environmentally-friendly and tourism-related environment”. Given the great progress made in this regard, the town has been honored as the Zhejiang Central Town, the Zhejiang Historical and Cultural Town, the Zhejiang Green Town, the Zhejiang Town Advanced in Education, Zhejiang Sports Strong Town, the Zhejiang Ecological Town, and the Jiaxing Culturally Advanced Town.

  The town has distinctive advantages in industry. Based on the Haining High-Tech Industrial Area, the Yanguan Hardware Machinery Electronics Industrial Area, and the Haining Special Electroplating Processing Area, the town boasts an industrial pattern which has two pillar industries--electronic information and electronic machinery, and sees the joint development of soft magnets, chemicals, electroplating, garments and textiles industries. It is the State Torch Plan Soft-Magnet Material Industry Base and the furniture (construction materials) and small hardware production base. The Haining Magnetic Material Industrial Park of the State (Jiaxing) Machinery Electronics Industrial Park was confirmed in 2006. In agriculture, greenhouse vegetables and production of seedling trees are leading sectors.   

Dingqiao Town

  Dingqiao Town has jurisdiction over 14 administrative villages and one community residents’ committee. It has a total population of 45,000 and a total area of 61.24 square km. By the end of 2007, its GDP was 1.08 billion Yuan, its total industrial output value was 4 billion Yuan, the value of products destined for exports was 340 million Yuan, its disposable income was 39.82 million Yuan, and the per-capita net income of its farmers was 9,002 Yuan a year.

  An industrial pattern featuring multiple sectors has taken shape, major ones including colored printing, plastics, warp knitting, electric luminous sources, and architectural installation. This paves the way for the town to compete any others in the country. The Dingqiao Brand Fresh Corn is a traditional farm produce much favored by consumers. The Dingqiao Town Chicken Farm is confirmed as the State-level poultry feed with feed free from chemical additives by the Ministry of Agriculture.   

  The world-famous tidal waves of the Qiantangjiang River occur daily. The best place to view this is in Dingqiao.

  Dingqiao is a town known in the country for its beautiful environment. It is also a model town of Zhejiang Province in terms of success achieved in popularizing science, a model town of Zhejiang Province in efforts made for a well-to-do society, and a culturally advanced town in Jiaxing City. It is also one of Top 100 towns in terms of economic might in China.

Xieqiao Town

  Xieqiao Town has jurisdiction over 16 administrative villages and two community committees. It has a total population of 61,300 and its total area is 64.5 square km. By the end of 2007, its GDP reached 1.56 billion Yuan, its total industrial output value was 7.804 billion Yuan, the value of products destined for exports added up to 3.412 billion Yuan, the disposable income of the town’s finances reached 49.094 million Yuan, and the per-capita net income of its farmers was 9,605 Yuan a year. Given this, it is one of the Top 100 towns in Zhejiang Province.

  The town has built up an economic pattern composed of leather and leather products, as well as printing and packaging, light clothing and food processing. Each of these industrial sector boasts an output value of 100 million Yuan. This makes the town very competitive in market competition. Its Xieqiao pickles is a traditional product and a famous special local product in Haining. Its bean products including mainly the Qingyunqiao bean products are also much favored by the consumers.

  The ancient leather-silhouette show unique to Xieqiao is widely hailed as a rare flower among folk cultures and is listed as a State intangible cultural heritage. Luzhong, one of the 12 great ancient water towns in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, has a long history, with numerous small bridges, rivers lined by ancient houses, ancient streets and lanes, and tranquil farm courtyards that deeply attract visitors.

Yuanhua Town

  Yuanhua Town covers an area of 74.7 square km and exercises jurisdiction over 14 administrative villages and four communities with a total population of 53,000 in 15,000 households. In 2007, its GDP was 1.34 billion Yuan, its total industrial and agricultural output value 4.9 billion Yuan (240 million Yuan for agricultural output value and 4.66 billion Yuan for industrial output value), and the value of products destined for export US$54.65 million. The total profits made and tax paid to the State reached 240 million Yuan, its financial revenue 140 million Yuan, and the per-capita net income of its farmers 9,487 Yuan a year.

  Its economic structure contains four major agricultural sectors including grains, silkworm and mulberries, livestock and fruits, and the four major industrial sectors including solar energy, light-textile and knitting, electric-pearl bulbs and new-type building materials. Among them, the quality fruits production base with southern pear as the mainstay has been named the State-level pollution-free fruit base by the Ministry of Agriculture. Its products are sold to Shanghai and Hangzhou. The 2007 output value of its solar energy industry, producing mainly water heaters, surpassed 2 billion Yuan. This makes the town the third largest solar products manufacturers in the country; the other two are Jinan of Shandong and Changzhou of Jiangsu.

Huangwan Town

  Huangwan Town has jurisdiction over seven administrative villages and one community committee. It has a total population of 23,534 and covers an area of 47.5 square km. By the end of 2007, its GDP was 402 million Yuan, its financial revenue 19.71 million Yuan and the per-capita net income its farmers 9,632 Yuan a year.

  A special industrial pattern has been formed to cover steel pipes, automobile headlights, solar energy equipment and textiles. Through construction of functional zones, the investment environment is being optimized continuously. Huangwan Town is a town distinguished in fruits in Zhejiang Province. An area of 11.07 million hectares of land is devoted to growing waxberry, orange, loquat, and juicy peach trees.

  Huangwn Town has picturesque scenery with 933 hectares of forests found on the Dajianshan, Xiaojianshan and Fenghuangshan mountain ranges. Sight-seeing eco-farming tour is unique to Huangwan. The Jianshan Sight-seeing Fruits Garden is one of the first group of rural scenic spots in Jiaxing City. June and July each year often seen efforts to promote the “Waxberry Picking Week in Jianshan.” This attracts many visitors to taste fresh fruit they pick and also the rural beauty.

    Xiashi Street

  Xiashi Street has jurisdiction over eight administrative villages, five residents’ committees evolved from villages, and 10 town community residents’ committees. It has a total population of 82,000 and a total area of 34.9 square km. By the end of 2007, the total output value of enterprises above designated scale reached 1.603 billion Yuan, with 140 million Yuan of profits and taxes paid. The value of products destined for exports reached US$39.61 million. The GDP of the street totaled 2.26 billion Yuan, its disposable financial income 26.43 million Yuan, the per-capita disposable income of urban residents 20,653 Yuan a year, and the per-capita net income for rural residents 9,485 Yuan a year.

  The tertiary business of the street is composed of “three areas and three streets”— the cultural, tourism and relaxation area on both sides of Xishan Road, the shopping malls area along Gongren Road, and the central grocery and food market as well as the garments street of Renmin Road, the entertainment street of Ziyang Road, and the food street of Cangjihe. The tertiary business volue makes up 67 percent of the total industrial output value of the street. The breeding of Pinyuan lake sheep has achieved a certain scale. The Changtian Grapes won gold medal and two silver ones at the First High-Quality Excellent Fruits Competition in Haining City.   

Haizhou Street

  Haizhou Street has jurisdiction over five administrative villages, six rural communities and nine urban communities with the total population of 52,500 and total area of 23.2 square km. By the end of 2007, its GDP was 2.588 billion Yuan, its total industrial output value 2.012 billion Yuan, the value of goods exported by the producers themselves US$160 million, and the added value of the tertiary sector 2.15 billion Yuan. The per-capita disposable income of urban residents has reached 20,653 Yuan a year, and the per-capita net income for rural residents 9,566 Yuan a year.

  Haizhou Street is narrow and elongated from east to west. The terrain is even and the highways cross each other and extend in all directions. Within its territory are the administrative, sports and cultural centers of Haining City. The environment is beautiful, the climate pleasant with an annual average temperature of 15.9 degrees Celsius. This encourages high-efficiency city-type ecological agriculture on the foundation of the Minhe Village Flower and Seedling Tree Base and Yiqiao Village Vegetable Base. Commerce flourishes and the China Haining Leather Town and Diyijia Household Articles Square play an important role to the flourishing business.   

Haichang Street

  Established in November 2003, Haichang Street is located in the north of Haining City neighboring Haiyan County in the east, Xiashi Street and Haizhou Street in the south, Tongxiang City in the west and Xiuzhou District of Jiaxing City. It has jurisdiction over 12 administrative villages and eight communities (including one urban community). It has a total area of 54.2 square km. By the end of 2007, the total registered population was 35,383 in 9,584 households. Its GDP stood at 1.261 billion Yuan, total industrial output value 4.211 billion Yuan and per-capita net income of rural residents 9,259 Yuan.

  Haichang Street, the northern gate of Haining, is the site of a Provincial Economic Development Area. Its industrial system is composed of stockings, textiles and leather products. It enjoys a booming agriculture, rich cultural activities and stable social order.    

Maqiao Street

  Known as the famous warp knitting town in China, Maqiao Street has jurisdiction over eight administrative villages. The population of permanent residents is 27,000. In 2007, its total output value reached 1.798 billion Yuan and the per-capita net income of rural residents was 9,358 Yuan. There are 200 enterprises each with annual sales of over 5 million Yuan and 13 enterprises of these each joy an economic might of more than 100 million Yuan. Economic strength of enterprises above designated scope totaled 6.755 billion Yuan. The warp knitting industry is the leading sector and more than 250 enterprises are involved in the business. They are equipped with about 1,000 sets of top-grade KS double-axis warp knitting machines and related equipment, about a quarter of the national total.

  Maqiao Street is developed in cultivation. At present, it has the largest cultivation base of Japanese soft-shell turtles in China and is an important breeding poultry base in northern Zhejiang Province. Culture booms in the rural areas and the street is famous for its the cultural brand of “Charming Maqiao”.
